Any other hosts as upset as I am over these recent changes … “pricing”, “blocking host numbers”, & “details” format?
Pricing - you refer to new fee structure ?
Blocking host numbers - You mean telephone number or Host account number or ?
Details - which details ?
Please explain in more detail what makes you upset.
Pricing - that EVERY Host as to adjust their numbers to account for both guest & host service fees rather than the norm. Why doesn’t Airbnb just post what they charge & add it on the end? ; Host phone numbers are now blocked for “privacy”! I don’t want this & it’s dangerous for an emergency. Who answers unknown or blocked numbers?? I certainly don’t; And they changed the format on reservations that showed in “details” one less person! I was away & looked in details & it said 12 guests but there actually were 13 as they didn’t include the person booking! This is very important for beds & linens!! 3 changes since May that make absolutely no sense. What was wrong with the older system?
Hi @Lori4410
I'll start so long and @Emiel1 can add on:
1) The pricing change is just in how the fee is collected. The structure is simpler now, but there's no increase (or very little variation for some).
2) Don't worry, if you and the guest phone each other, the numbers show "Airbnb Host" and :Airbnb Guest". Details:
https://www.airbnb.co.za/help/article/3764
3) The booking now shows the Booker plus the number of guests. So you're right, if you book my place for two, I'll see "Lori + 1"
For the pricing change - I've noticed that it doesn't work for promotions after you accept the adusted pricing. You change your prices automatically to add in 15.5% , great...but then if you apply a promotion, it is using the OLD pricing, so if you are promoting 20% for some dates, it is using the OLD unadjusted pricing, so you really are discounting 35.5%.
that part is ridiculous. I think one side of the coders didn't follow the other side.
For phone numbers blocked - I actually prefer it - you do have to type in the confirmation number to "synch" the messages - but then texting from any phone is easier. You don't have to use the phone you have in your profile (I have several) so that part is good. And once connected with the guest, it is easy - and I'm assuming they read all the messages so that helps with any disputes. Before, I would have to screen shot messages to upload - now they can just see them for themselves (I guess?)
for details - what I do find is that infants are not counted as people (guests). In my state, every human counts. For insurance and housing permissions. So it's critical to know exactly how many human beings are staying in the home - if they go over with babies, I have issues with my state and insurance. So STOP saying infants don't count! Plus, some people list toddlers as infants to get around that limit.
Just some of my perspectives on the above!
