Refund

I had a guest book for 2 nights. On the day of check in they sent a message saying they wouldn’t make it as they were feeling too tired to make the drive after work. And stated they would make it for the 2nd night.

The afternoon of the second night they sent a message saying they had developed a cold and wouldn’t be coming at all.

They did not ask for any time of refund but were more concerned that I give them a positive review.

Since they did not come at all should a partial refund be given even without them asking for it?

@Erin6675  It depends on your cancellation policy and how you feel about the rental.  A last minute cancellation or non-arrival by the guest means that you lost the opportunity to re-rent, and if you refund the guest in full, lost income.

if you feel generous you can refund a portion of the rent.  Otherwise you can keep it.  Know that if the guest did not cancel on the website they can post a review.  No refund may mean a poor review whereas a partial refund may lead to a “host refunded even though I did not stay” neutral review.

Honor your cancellation policy.

However, it would be helpful to other hosts for you to leave a nice review with the comment that they couldn’t make it, but were gracious and pleasant to deal with.
