I rented out a property to somebody whose house burnt down(probably for the same reason, they messed up my house). I specifically asked them if their cats had been declawed and they told me they were. I asked them to place the newly purchased sofa and chair covers that I took to them on the living room furniture. I texted her on several times to make sure she had placed them on the furniture and apparently she did not. Also, she had more cats than she told me about and when they left, there were so much pet hair on every one of my sofas that I had to hire a carpet cleaning company to remove all of the pet hair before they cleaned all of the furniture. It took them three days with a fogger and an ozone machine to remove all of the pet odor from the house.
They used my duvet covers for the cats to lay on, they had litter boxes inside the closet spaces, bringing that stench into the carpet and walls. They left bloodied sheets on the bed. The air handler in the air conditioning system had to be cleaned from the inside because the pet hair was getting through the filters and clogging the A/C. On two occasions that I called the air conditioning people they told me that these clients were not using an air conditioning filter, therefore damaging the flow of air and could have potentially damage my whole air-conditioning unit.
My housekeepers were so overwhelmed that I had to pay them extra money to finish the job. They were so very overwhelmed by what they found!
The worst part of it all is that somehow they managed to break the arm off my living room sofa. It now wobbles to and fro, I am having to apologize to my other Airbnb guests for the condition of my furniture until Airbnb decides what they want to do. My brand new furniture that’s only two years old now has been Clawed by the cats and are in terrible condition. I had to literally throw away the sofa chair because it was clawed so badly by the cats.
The worst part is that I have talked and sent the necessary information repeatedly about three times to three different agents, giving them exactly the same information and they have yet to figure out what to reimburse me for if anything. At this point in time I think I might have to do go to small claims court and settle this $4000+issue. Apparently Airbnb does not want to be the bad person and their insurance is a fraud!
