Hi hosts,
Does anyone know of a provincial, national CDN or North American wide advocacy association of short term rental owners (STRO)?
I have been browser searching for organizations and some great local and North American portals providing information like FOCA.ON.CA and ASTRHO.ORG but none that seem to be actively lobbying for STRO interests.
Given the current "crackdown" and a climate in which STROs are being painted as operators of mass parties and prostitution dens who are also the cause of our housing shortages, we desperately need to speak up for ourselves and help change or at at least be involved in the narrative.
If anyone reading this knows of or is interested in joining an STRO advocacy group, please answer this thread.
🙂
There is a new association out of Victoria, BC propertyrightsbc.org
Thanks Paul, is it this group who managed to get this coverage: These short-term rental owners followed all the regulations. Now the province is changing the rules ...
I'd love to see more advocacy for us responsible STROs at the provincial and national levels.
Not sure about the owner in Kelowna, since this organization seems more centred on Victoria.
Also, here is a video link from them: https://screenpal.com/watch/c0XnDkVEPTo
And, their latest newsletter: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1euxwfRLUMzK9HHoEiwpPcSnjqSsbZBrU/edit
Hope this helps.
Perhaps... Shame there is little response in the community to establishing an advocacy group.
Thanks #paul7222 though -- all good info
