Tax question: Registering with Massachusetts department of revenue help?

Hi there,

I went to the official Mass page for short term rentals, which states one must register with MassTax Connect. To sign up for an account, they ask you to provide an amount of a recent tax return or refund. 

My understanding is that the tax return is the amount you requested to be refunded in your tax return document, and that the refund is the amount you actually got back from the gov. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, I tried putting in both numbers and kept getting an "incorrect amount" message. Apparently their system thinks I have a different amount, but I'm looking at my tax return for 2020 and putting in the relevant numbers I see....

Planning to call them when they open tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone can shed some light on this? Thanks!!

@Alaska6   Are you entering your Federal or State tax return values?  Which do they want?
