Taxes

We are new to airbnb.  we are set to have our first renter in two days.  We have not figured out how to contact airbnb to get set up for taxes.  We are in NC.  We would like to have an idea of how this works, when & how much needs to be charged to the renter, what is expected of us, and generally help to stay legal, and not get hit with a great expence unexpectedly. Please get us on the right track.

One of the great benefits of Airbnb is that they take care of all the lodging, tourist and sales taxes for you.

They know what to do based on your listing information.

All you have to deal with is your personal income tax and, hopefully, after you subtract your expenses from the rental income you won’t have much profit to pay taxes on.
