We have hosted in Portugal for a few years. Our tax reference provided to airbnb is our portuguese tax reference. Until recently we have not paid VAT but the Portuguese law is changing and this will be a necessity for income over 13,500€ rising to 14,000€. In preparation for this change we have been checking the Airbnb Transaction information. We were surprised that while we provided our Portugese Tax reference information, Airbnb does NOT use this to calculate VAT on the transactions, Airbnb uses our personal ID to determine our our VAT calculation.
We enquired about changing our ID information, but this is only possible after a 3month gap in rental activity!
Has anyone else bumped in to this issue and have you found a solution, other than delete your account and start again!
Thanks

@Lee-and-Debbie0 A few thoughts:
Are you using pro tools as these allow you to specify VAT and other taxes.
Do you have to have Airbnb collect the tax or can you collect and remit it yourself?
Hi Mike, how do I check if we are using pro tools?
