Has anyone else run up against a requirement to use Verify ID no matter who you are booking with? For security reasons I do not with to keep my ocs on file and link my airbnb profile with my fb page. So I have not been able to book with any hosts now, and the hosts are not the ones imposing the requirement. as a Super Host myself, I think this is going to really hurt my business. Anyone know anything? Thanks!
DO NOT GIVE THEM THIS INFOMATION! Unless you want your identity STOLEN!
So tell me how are you protected? By having the facial recognition by the guest, are you going to hunt them down when they leave your house and the rug is not intact? Seriously, do you understand what a violation of your own privacy? Okey, i want you to be verified as well, i want your address, social security number, credit card and what not. I cant even send a request unless i put my facial ID/Passport and, and i seriously mean AND my banking details, to just send you a message. Thank you but wtf!?!? You're more than welcome to visit me and give me all these details.
I find this intrusive and it appears you will lose business because of this decision. Deservedly so in my opinion. People book Airbnb stays with their credit card. If you think that is good enough for a hotel why isn't it good enough for you?
A credit card comes with protection coverage. This is why I'm comfortable sharing cc info online. Nobody is going to protect me or cover the damage that could potentially be done if my DL or other govt ID is compromised, stolen, etc. Identity theft is the real concern here. That's why I don't wish to share my DL with AirBnB
And they already have a credit card to book. Why do they need a copy of a government issues ID? I am happy to SHOW it to a host to verify my identity, I am not willing to have my ID in their database to sell or be stolen...
When you stay at an airbnb you pay up front! You already have the credit card to verify identity
We are paying by credit card .. thi is verified and para verified
I use a credit card for airbnb too. So if your argument is that credit cards are a form of verification for hotels, why isn’t that sufficient for airbnb?
The ID is taken at check in, and not stored in a computer. So this entire scheme by hosts just exposes all of your guests to potential hacking of very sensitive information. Not going to happen from this guest. But thanks for thinking of our security....
'hosts/guests' .... soft and cosy terms. Think those days gone.
But AirBNB already has my credit card information for verification, and even then I'm not terribly comfortable. Thankfully my credit card has ID theft protection (that I pay for), and it doesn't show my full name, my birthdate, address, or picture. To show an ID in person is much different than uploading a picture of it to a website that has millions of visitors from all over the world visiting every day.
Credit card, sure, but not a picture of my goverment ID. Had to turn down booking a gorgeous airbnb cause I'm not doing it.
Hi. We pay by card, like hotels, as you say above, therefore adequate verification has been entered, as again you say above.
As a host I require verify id and government id for my security, the security of my family, and the security of other guests.
Then verify it yourself when I check in like a hotel does. I don't think it is fair to expect me to put my government id on the website. CC is one thing, you can cancel it. I do not want my id stolen.
