Wake County, NC zoning?

Hi, I'm in an unincorporated part of Wake County, NC (Raleigh is located here) and I'm trying to figure out if I can legally have a skoolie airbnb.  I spoke to someone with the Wake Co. planning dept and she said that the regulations say it has to be my permanent residence in order to use it in that way. But that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I should be able to rent out, say, a little granny flat in my back yard, but I wouldn't be living in it, it would just be part of my permanent address. 

Can anyone in this area help me?
