If I have a home I rented only a couple times and had payouts of under $1500, do I have to pay federal income tax on this?

Now, Iike to delete the above post and can not figure out how to do that.

@Kengela0,

Don't worry about deleting your post, you wont be the only person who has this question.

Now other readers will have a couple of tips to guide them as well. 🙂

You have to report all income, but if your expenses exceed your gross receipts, which they should, you will have no tax liability.

@Kengela0 Welcome to the Community Forums and Airbnb.

  1. As this is an international discussion room, the answer to a question such as yours is dependent on your jurisdiction.
  2. It is not possible for other Hosts to reply unless you were to give more precise details about where you are. More detail would be required.
  3. As tax laws, rights and responsibilities are constantly being updated and modified, your safest bet would ultimately be to refer to your local government agencies. Bookmark their websites and subscribe to email updates, that way you will always be on top of whatever the latest financial rulings are.
  4. The great thing about Airbnb is that you can download all your financials and use this info to submit your tax returns when they are due.
  5. Declare, declare, Declare, and you will always be on the right side of the law. If you earn under the threshold, then you should be ok. glenbrook lagoon.jpg
