I am looking for a photographer to take shots of villa in uluwatu
a new guest of mine set for june said airbnb charged them for their stay already. Is this correct? not sure where to point them for help.
@Dr--Perry0 Guests are charged when they book. There is nothing to "help" them with.
I don't quite understand how you can have 35 reviews already and also have stayed as a guest and not know this.
Airbnb charges guests immediately and pays hosts 24 hours after checkin.
What the effect is that Airbnb collects guest $$ upfront, sits on the guest money, collects whatever interest available. So example, a guest books January 1 for a July 1 stay of $500. Airbnb collects interest on the January 1 guest payment until they pay the host on July 2.
Learned this from 30+ years in payroll and finance
Hope that clarifies your question..
I just booked for a December stay. Half paid up front on booking, but this isn’t an option for all guests?
@Gordon0 I think it depends. If the check-in date is soon after booking, I don't think that option is given, and maybe it isn't given to first time guests with no proven payment history? I don't really know what the factors are, but I know I read in Airbnb policy that it is "sometimes", or "in some cases", or whatever the wording was, offered. In other words, it's not always an option.
Great to get away, @Mike-And-Jane0, but the hassle factor getting and being here (Thailand) isn’t easy to swallow.
@Gordon0 Indeed. I suspect we will wait until next year before we try to go to Vietnam.
You point them to Airbnb. They handle all payments.
However, here is a snapshot of what it looks like when a guest books your listing for June dates. Payment details are very upfront and center so what kind of guest are you dealing with here?
