Wow Airbnb . Im a super host with over 200 5 star reviews. Im not only shocked at the way I’ve been treated but also how Airbnb conducts business with direct regards to their host. I hosted a group from Texas while they came to Los Angeles. My home has #Nest video cameras both outside my home and inside ( common areas , living room, kitchen, Hallway) all in plain view, I even have a sign at soon as your enter my property . A claim was made and my account was suspended instantly. I was sent an email from my claim manager Tony in which I have never spoke to or even a reply to my email. I called the host help line and spoke to Rosie a rep who took my statement and told me she would forward to Tony and I would hear from him or someone ASAP. As of now still nothing except and email stating my account is deactivated and I’m no longer able to obtain customer care. WOW.......I not only walked the Los Angeles Pride festival with AIRBNB but also attend countless meetings both at host homes and at City Hall when needed. This experience has truly shinned a light on how you treat host and assume guilt before hearing both sides to a story. Since I have not heard from you Ive taken this route in hopes to clearing this up https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/21963830?s=51

@Jonathan520 what did they claim?

Were the cameras disclosed in the listing?

It’s noted on my listings , they’re all in plain site , and also you are advised of the Nest cams as soon as you walk thru my entrance gate . What is discouraging is that I have yet to actually speak To someone about this yet my account has been deactivated. I have never had any issues prior and I’m totally feeling like this one of retaliation from my guest since I made her pay for all the extra guest she decided to have overnight

@Jonathan520 some people have reported better results contacting Airbnb on facebook and twitter...

Thank you for that !! I’ve also stated posting  on therefacebook page ( finally someone reached out? We’ll see but I’m keeping my fingers crossed !

They shouldn’t be able to conduct business like this so I want to make sure all host and future host are aware of this treatment

Hi, I had exactly the same situation, please update me when you know the outcome. My listings was hold for one month, unbelievable ! Poor customer service refunding my money to guest who damage my property....is a no respect to host and poor communication. Thanks

Hi, I have exactly the same situation too

I am currently on hold trying to deactivate my account. As a Host, Airbnb has treated me so bogusly. I had a guest check-in and he claimed my rooftop pool photos were different from my listing. There was a new white building that was built...as if I have any control of that. There was still a view for God's sake! The guest wanted to leave after checking in for 1 hour and I said that was fine. Afterwards, he decided to go ghost, not return any communication from myself or Airbnb, stay for the entire 7 days and bow they want to give him a 50% refund! I am so over them. I two supported them with countless letters, discussions to save the company in Los Angeles. I am utterly disappointed and I've been supremely stressed out because of them and that guest. First they wouldn't return my calls while the guest was there and now they want to call me everyday and continuously flip flop their views on the situation. They even informed me the guest obviously doctored the messages. They refuse to show me whatever pictures he submitted as if I am supposed to trust that is in fact my rooftop. I'm so over them.

Did you get any feedback?  Let us know what happens

Same issue here.  Airbnb deactivated ALL of our properties even though we had the security cameras shown on the listing.  Our security cameras are only on the outside of the building.

Is it stated in the Terms  and Conditions that security cameras are not allowed ?

I don't understand this.

Mainly what really concerns me is that Airbnb cancels accounts with no explanation or warning.

This should be addressed.

I just experienced the very same thing. I had a guest book my place weeks in advance for 5 guests. She showed up with 6. They arrived early and I was finishing my “flip”. They barged past me with their bags in hand. I was very pleasant and let them leave their bags. I was giving them a tour when a noticed a few of the ladies looking at their phones. They looked at the person who booked my house as they asked; “where are the other bed rooms?”.  I explained; I have two stories and 3 beds not 3 bedrooms! We viewed my posting and obviously just under my 5 star Super host tag is the listing that describes 3 beds, etc.. I offered the party a free cancellation and the opportunity to stay while they found another place if they liked. They all chimed in they would just stay. Well after they lost the keys twice during a two night stay, they departed quietly and left a beach chair. I politely sent them a picture and asked if I could bring it to them if they were still in town eating or something.  Still attempting to please this party (as us super hosts do).

I received a 3 star review for “misleading” her in my listing. During our conversations at check in. The woman who booked made the comment; “I can’t count” (I was unsure if she was referring to the number of guests or bedrooms -she’s a school teacher) followed by another comment that “I can’t read”. Well, as a 32 year retired military aviator, I just had to add those quotes in my review but I gave them 5 stars because the House was clean when they departed with no damages.

What followed next was her calling me a “**bleep**”! I responded with something a little more creative but not indecent, vulgar or discriminatory in anyway. She informs she has reported me for making inappropriate and unwanted comments during their visit.  Followed by another I already reported you! I just had to ask her what she considered an “inappropriate or unwanted” comment.

Airbnb calls to ask me a few questions but they are vague and nothing specific to this guest.

I got an email 48 hours later telling me my account was deactivated, my reservations cancelled and good luck.  Signed by “Matt B”

My entire calander was cancelled for both locations. Two reservations were for the same day. My guests were calling me in a panick. I ended up hosting one of my guests, who happened to be a fellow military aviator, jusy on his word and trust of our fraternity.

Insane how one bad experience can result in deactivating an account that has been established for 13 months with 5 stars the entire time. I guess the school teacher really felt threatened when I responded to her text in kind. So my business is gone in a push of a button and this 1st grade school teacher is apparently teaching disrespect, disregard to others, call names then call the authorities.  Strange world we now live in. This person got aggressive with me because of her mistakes. Then apparently needed justice when I posted her innocuous quotes in my review.

I’m curious to how the people at Airbnb are vetted before they can use the “deactivate” button. My guy in question, Matt B., actually made the statement he was being transparent! He is everything but transparent. I’m picturing a handful of young Matt Bs sitting around a pub somewhere, all being carded for IDs, laughing and commiserating about their hard day at work! Discussing the definition of transparent and deactivating 5 star Superhost accounts.

On a plane journey in the last two weeks I met a former Airbnb employee, tattoos from fingertips to shoulder blades I'd say about twenty-five years of age and infantile in nature.

He was explaining to me how hosts continually look for compensation well in excess of value, and that he had absolutely no problem himself getting compensation because he knew how to approach it.

He further went on to describe his philosophy of life, and explained that he been subletting an apartment from his land lady, and how he was making great money on Airbnb, but he decided he had enough and put the keys under the mat and left the apartment, when I enquired how his landlady had reacted to this turn of events, he told me he had not told her yet but was starting to reorganised his Airbnb clients. I ask him about his security deposit with his landlady, he told me life was too short to pursue it, at this juncture let me hypothesise that the apartment was trashed by one of his guests and he got out of the Poland fast because if my hypothesise is correct he’d be in prison awaiting trial at this stage.

I despise this type of freeloader and this is just one example of the sort of scumbag that’s deciding the fate of great hosts on the Airbnb’s platform.

I am going through the same as well.  I cannot even log in to add to this conversation.  I am a landlord and had three emails listed and connected to the same account - a corporate traveling account, a personal traveling account and one that had my property listed.  The reason for the different emails is that each one receives and responds to different traffic.  I kept business and pleasure separate.

So surprise surprise one day I get the review email.  No one could explain what was going on. Then suddenly, it is deactivated.  Here is the email from Airbnb.

Now I have no idea how to get on the app to at least use it to travel since all my email addresses and credit cards are attached to the account that was deactivated.

Hi , I’m curious....did you ever figure out why your account was deactivated?
