Adding additional Pool Charge

Hi Everyone,

Its the newbies again, Gail and Rod. We booked a family however they did not know if they wanted the pool heated at the time the reservations were made.

The charge to heat the pool is $50/day. It was stated in the description about the extra charge. Now they have decided that they want the pool heated. How do we collect the additional $50/day?

Thanks!

Hi Gail,

What I often do is use the "Send of Request Money" feature. You'll find a button for that at the top right of the message thread as seen in desktop view.  (It's probably present in the mobile app as well, but I'm not certain where.)

But yes, one could also do a "Change Reservation". I'm not 100% sure if doing "Change Reservation" results in guests paying an increased fee to Airbnb, but I'm pretty sure that "Request Money" does not.

(BTW, fellow Palm Springs vacation rental owner here. A great way to connect with other owners is to join VRON Palm Springs, an organization representing permit holders in Palm Springs, organizing to fight the ballot initiative to ban vacation rentals, and a lot of other good stuff.  Join us at vronps.org.)

Best regards,

Keith

Just go to their reservation on your calendar: click on their photo and a box will pop up - at the bottom of the text box is 'Alter or Cancel'

Click this - then CHange Reservation - add the additional price to the subtotal and click Submit Alteration

Make sure you check they have accepted the change or else you won't get paid the updated amount

Thank you Gerry and Rashid! Will do it!

Does anyone know if we can do that for 11.5% Palm Springs, CA tax?

Very glad to see this concern, I am a new host with Airbnb and my spa/pool heater can not be on 24-7 It's not cost effective for me. I will add the cost to use as a separate charge.
