Air bnb rules and house rules

I have a couple who arrived today with a toddler. I was expecting three guests but unaware of the child. I thought Airbnb rules are guests have to declare the ages of children when booking?

Additionally, these people have just had a visitor from a stranger to us. I don’t like the idea of people I don’t know in the house do I have  a rule that only registered guests can enter our property.

Should I report these matters to Airbnb? I have sent a message to the guest reminding them of the house rule.

Hi @Caroline890 : I understand your frustration. You might want to send them a reservation alteration request to increase the number of people on the reservation to include the child. If for some reason it won't work because they are already into their stay, you should be able to to get CS to help alter it. As far as the guests visitor, that is up to you as to whether or not you involve CS. Not sure if they will do much more than Maybe send a reminder to the guest, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that. You have infromed/reminded them of your Rules regarding unregistered guests on your property. I will tell you though, the ABB TOS WILL cover any damages etc caused by visitors of your registered guests, if that is your worry. At the very least, they will hopefully apologize for breaking the rules and ask in the future. Jut keep everything On Platform for the record. Good Luck!

@Caroline890  I hear you...we had the same thing happen last fall; a lady  and her friend claimedthat they did not have to disclose their two toddlers since Airbnb does not charge for them--despite our "no small children-rule".   I was pretty new to hosting back then and just quietly gritted my teeth.  I should have called CS and requested to have the guest removed.    It ended up being a terrible weekend with the little ones tottering around unsupervised around our yard and unsecured in-ground pool and scribbling all over our guestbook and walls with ink pen.  We have a strict "no children policy" these days and I am not afraid to enforce it.

As far as bringing unregistered guests onto the premises--this also seems to happen fairly frequently.  I always try and make sure to be home when our guests arrive so that I can personally hand them the sheet with the house rules.  If someone decides to disregard them, I  always remind them of the rules and definitely dock them points on my review.   I'm done **bleep**-footing around disrespectful guests.
