Airbnb is repeatedly not allowing me to use my referral credit to pay for reservations.

I have been throughly frustrated and disappointed that a large amount of referral credit that I have generated with Airbnb is unavailable to use when making new bookings.

On 3 occasions, I have attempted to pay part of or all of the cost of a reservation using my credit, but when I have clicked on the “Confirm Reservation” button, the “Processing Transaction” window comes up and remains there for longer than normal. Then I am returned to the previous payment page and have an error message stating that a “connection error prevented my request from being sent”. This is false information as may WiFi remained constant throughout.

When I click the “Confirm Reservation” button again, the same “Processing Transaction” window comes up and remains there for longer than normal. I am then again returned to the previous payment page, and this time an error message states that I have, “already submitted a request for these dates”.

After a few minutes, my email inbox is filled with 10-15 Airbnb emails refunding my apparent used credit, and I also have an email that is a receipt confirming my supposed reservation. When I click the link on this email to show the itinerary, the itinerary has a message stating that is has “Failed Verification”.

Although this issue was reported to Airbnb last Tuesday, the first advisor could not sort the issue. It was escalated to “an appropriate team” but I have received no tracking information of the resolution or have I received any updates on the progress of the fix.

I am hugely frustrated that this problem even exists, and that Airbnb are taking so long in resolving it. It is as if they are refusing to allow me to use my credit, and want to take my money instead.

Has anyone had a similar issue?
