Airbnb's new payout practices

Airbnb's new payout practices

Hello everyone,

we have been hosting several of our properties on airbnb for many years now and we want to share with more hosts our situation that leads us to stop using the platform. We rented our personal home for 12 days but for some reasons only got paid out only 65% of the payout amount communicated to us by airbnb.
We contacted airbnb and they explained to us that although the payout amount based on the nightly rate and length of rental was indeed higher and the one agreed, we would not receive the full amount 😡😡 They offered us to send our feedback and closed our claim!😡

Please be aware of their new practices we lost $1,000usd by renting our home via airbnb 😡

@Chelsea360  As you apparently now have no listings on Airbnb it is difficult to see what you had on the platform and the relevant reviews.  I can only assume that you had one (or several) guests that asked for a refund and that Airbnb agreed that they were entitled to one, hence the discrepancy I. Your payout.

Hi kate, just to make sure you don't believe  this was an issue related with guests or a refund. Our guests are still in our property actually and have nothing to do with our payout issue. Airbnb just chose to pay us a lesser amount than the one from our original payout communicated by them, result of a very simple calculation based on the number of rental days and your nightly rate. At the time of the booking airbnb sent us 1 calculation which match what the rates and number of days however 2 days into the rental we received a wire of a lesser amount (35% less) , we contacted them, they sent us 1 screen shot of our new payout calculation  and in Portuguese by the way😡 saying that this is what we will not receive any further amounts, we have all on writting of course and we had heard of hundreds of payout claims and delays worldwide but we never expected to be their victims, anyway, we are looking into how to sue them and make sure they don't keep with these very shady practices.

@Chelsea360

Is there any chance you can post a screen shot of the contradictory payout (promised vs issued)? I’ll keep checking quickly today in case they delete it but that would help a lot. And they always delete screen shots of the emails with the service reps so if you post one of those do it on a separate one vs the payout figures

I absolutely believe you I just want to know more about what they’re doing

not sure you will be able to see the 4 screen shots, but basically, off a $2,874.89usd payout we only received $1,948usd.

Ok I can see it. So this is a currency conversion situation right?

You are being paid in Mexican Pesos but it’s not the same as it should be with the USD shown to you based on the conversion rate that day?

I have seen other currency conversion complaints. Here’s one that went somewhere:
