Being directed to Facebook for profiles.

I am disappointed that Airbnb sends hosts to facebook to look at profiles for potential bookings.  I do not list my place on facebook so why would i ever consider looking on facebook to get a profile of a potential guest.  I also do not plan on putting a facebook listing up that would ever link to airbnb, if i did that why would i ever need airbnb again.  Facebook should not be connected to everything that one does or comments on in social media nor should it be connected to one's home.

@William168  Linking to Facebook simply gives guests and hosts the ability to verify if their guest/host is a "real" person. It's the same with LinkedIn or Google. It has nothing to do with listing on any of these sites, just an additional measure of verifying the person is who they say they are.

@William168, ABB does not direct anyone to Facebook.

A guest who has verification through Facebook is not the same thing as being directed there.

You can't click on a guest's FB "link" to see their profile.

@Wendy-and-Frank0 after i accept the booking i get their name and do a facebook search.does that make me a peeper?

i dunno but it helps to know who is comeing for dinner.

I'm increasingly concerned about the level, or lack of, verifications that ABB asks for . It seems guests can sign up with just a Facebook profile or even just their mobile phone number through the app and then immediately book. I'm coming across more and more people who either have no profile picture or a very odd picture to represent them and as little as 1 verification. I really have very little idea who is coming to stay. I write and ask them to let me know a bit more about themselves - which some do repond to - but others don't even reply to that.

Why can't ABB be a bit more like they used to be not so long ago when you had to provide a pretty good level of identification to sign up?

I know I could change my booking settings, but I don't want to put too many limits on my business. If ABB were a bit more stringent then I wouldn't have to even consider that option.

Also does anyone from the company read or respond to any of these messages?

Welcome to the gig economy model, get everybody else to do the work and they rake in the profits, abrogate all responsibility or culpability for the activity there overseeing, behind a wall of contractual obligations heavily loaded in their favour.

The latest load of BS coming out of Airbnb to curry favour with legislators is a ten million dollar charity fund, while at the same time leaving homeowner and host with destroyed dwelling and nowhere to turn to, its stomach-churning stuff.

I forgot to mention the Airbnb fund is called "A Fair Share" I want to vomit.
