Car broken into anything we need to do

We had a guest tell us that is truck was broken into only after we asked him if he had a dog staying with him (we have no pets policy). We told we wish you would have let us know right away. Is there anything we need to do? If it is “park at your own risk” should we post this somewhere? Thanks for everybody’s help in this community. We have been hosts now for a month and half and so far it going better then expected for us.

@Amber221  No, you are in no way responsible for petty theft outside of your property. I don't think you need "park at your own risk" but stating that it is street parking only should be enough- you could park on the street anywhere and run that risk. Is this a known problem in your area?

Thanks for your reply. This area is a quiet area and we have never had a problem as none of our guests have had a problem. But Concord these thief’s seem like they start at one neighborhood then work their way across the city and then start over. My feeling though is don’t leave valuables in your car if you don’t want it broken into.

Unless the parking spot was a secure location on your private property, of course you are not responsible. You shouldn't apologize or be responsible for something you have no control over. If the car was broken into, the guest should be contacting his auto insurance. If someone parked their car on the street in front of their hotel or a resturant and the car was broken into, would people expect the hotel or resturant to take responsibility?

Better yet, tell the guest to contact Airbnb CS 🙂
