Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are an important part of making Airbnb a trusted travel option for companies. As part of our commitment to guest safety, Airbnb offers free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for hosts: www.airbnb.com.au/home-safety.
Question: does anybody got a carbon monoxide detector from airbnb ever? I did request one months ago and did nt get a respond.
@Martin0 & Eli We requested one several months ago and received it within 6-8 weeks, as I recall. Our listing is in the US, though. It's possible that AirBnB ships via "slow boat" to non-US addresses. That would fit right in with their general behavior...
that link you posted does not have an offer for a free detector?
Diana just read this:

It looks like we are shown different wordings in different places, @Martin--and-Eli0. I am seeing what @Dee9 is seeing at the "au" link (where mine defaults to the "ca" site.) No offer of anything free. Our wording says:
"Our Commitment to Safety: Organisations around the world are working to educate and assist home owners around home safety, and we want to help. Through awareness and a few simple tools, we'd like to help you make your home even safer. We encourage every Airbnb host to install working smoke & CO detectors in their listing and to check them frequently."
No free safety for us 🙂
Hello @Martin & Eli,
Lovely to meet you.
Last February, there was a long post here in the Community Center, where hosts could apply for a limited number of free smoke and CO detectors from Airbnb and lots of host mentioned they had received one. I wonder if this is what you are referring to?

I requested a free carbon monoxide and smoke detector back in May 2018 but have heard nothing since. I e-mailed support but they just referred me back to the information on their web-site. How can I chase this up?
it was only a promotion for a limited number of detectors for a limited time
I just received mine today and will be installing it tomorrow. The warning on my listing can finally be removed. I have been waiting much longer than a month. Was worth the wait and its free. Thank you Airbnb.
