Change of reservation request and our cancellation policy

Hi, we have a guest who originally requested to cancel their reservation 3 days prior to arrival and asked for a full refund. We have a 14 day cancellation policy so we declined. They then put in a change of dates request which would put them outside the 14 day cancellation period. I suspect that if I accept the change they will then immediately cancel. I'm new to Airbnb so not sure how this works with the policies. Anyone offer any help here please?  Thank you

Just refuse the amendment. You are right. I expect that is exactly what they are trying to do.

 

I would send a note back saying further to their earlier requedst to cancel the booking 3 days before arrival, you will not be able to accept a last minute amendment either for the same reasons.

 

Tell them that if  they need to change their arrangements you would be happy to consider a new booking for the new dates (if they are available), but they would need to cancel the original booking. Say to be fair to both parties, if you get any of the original dates rebooked you are happy to consider a partial refund for the original dates.

Hi Helen, thanks for your response. Yes that was what I was also thinking. I wasn't sure that if you accepted a change of dates it would extend the cancellation period so that we would be covered if they then cancelled. Thank you for your reply.

@Michael2561yes , if you accepted a change of dates it would extend the cancellation period. Don't accept. @Helen3 is right.
