Charging extra for guests plus one

Charging extra for guests plus one

Hi fellow Airbnb hosts. Is my listing for Stone Cottage, desirable area confusing?

Im playing around with pricing and decided to add a £4 supplement for guests more than one. This is because I get a lot of single travellers and it doesn’t seem fair to charge them the same.

Just had a lady turn up she only booked as one person. She now tells me another guest is coming with another car.

Dont want to say anything because my listing does say 2 guests (that’s the capacity).

Im just wondering if she’s made an easy honest mistake.

My rules however clearly state only one car per booking and only people listed on the booking to be at the property.

Mots not always easy to view on here as though you were booking as a traveller.

I can not have a look at your listing, as at this moment there is no active listing in your profile.

But what you describe sounds to me as the guest made a wrong reservation, as the second guest is not booked. But it can be corrected !

Best regards,

Hi @Rachel1009

Your profile shows no listing so we can't see your settings.

Just let the guest know that her booking is for one and if she wants a second person to stay, then you will raise a request through the resolution centre for the extra guest which she will need to pay (make sure she accepts the payment request before they stay the night)

You will also need to add the extra guest to the booking - call Airbnb to do this.

Thank you - she didn’t mention it until I took her into the property. Might be more hassle than it’s worth for £4 - might just verify in future if the booking is just for them as it’s received.

Thanks again

Kind regards Rachel

You must have multiple profiles, because on this profile I was able to see that you have 5 listings for the lovely stone cottage.  I looked at one that allowed 2 guests and can see that it is clear guests need to register all guests and the parking is restricted to 1 car.  However, this information is located in your rules and it might be useful to also mention in the description.  Perhaps something like,"In order to remain affordable for our many single travelers, the nightly rate is for a single guest and there is a small fee of 4 pounds for a second guest."

Several of your reviews reflect a couple rather than a single, so a new Air BNB guest may not realize the error when they do not report the second guest.

I also use my welcome message to confirm the number of guests registered which helps to capture this type of error.
