Checked in Alert

I often get alerts when a guest has checked in.

I 'm wondering just how does AirBnB know when a guest has checked in? Is this based on the guest location?

I'd be interested to know too @Mark-And-Kate0 this has happened a couple of times with me when a guest has self-checked in with my lockbox, quite handy really but I didn't know how they did it.

I have a ring doorbell now so I can see when guests have arrived if I am not home which makes life much easier.
