Greetings!
My name is Jamey and I'm the host at Pied-a'-Terre in old town east. I'm reaching out to a few local hosts to see how you plan on handling the 5% occupancy tax being levied by the City of Columbus effective 03/2019. I've contacted Airbnb and they have no plans to auto collect and remit on our behalf like they don in other cities. Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated. My thanks for your time!

Hello! I did not realize this was taking place so soon. Has anyone reached out to provide feedback?
I believe you can collect through AirBnB if you register with Ohio for a tax ID.
Jamey,
Did you ever figure out how to handle the Columbus excise tax? We're getting that notice from AirBnb that we need to register and now I'm seeing the tax implications without see a good way to collect those taxes.
Thanks,
Shane
I don't see an automated way to pay the 5.1% Columbus excise Tax. It looks like we have to pay manually per https://www.columbus.gov/public-safety/license-section/STR-FAQ/ .
Does anyone know if we have to pay Franklin (incl Ohio) Sales Tax (https://www.avalara.com/taxrates/en/state-rates/ohio/counties/franklin-county/) of 7.5%? I didn't think we did because I thought hotels were considered services, which aren't applicable to sales tax (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g191-c1484/United-States:Sales.Tax.html). But then I just saw these websites here which imply Ohio Hotels DO have to pay 7.5% Sales Tax (https://bizfluent.com/info-7820272-ohio-hotel-taxes.html) (https://www.columbus-bed-breakfast.com/policies) and 10% occupancy tax , and this website which implies Airbnb hosts/guests DON'T have to (https://radio.wosu.org/post/airbnb-hosts-get-nervous-columbus-considers-stricter-regulations#stream/...)
