I am putting this up here because I am wondering if this idea I had would be of interest to other hosts. I have my preparation time set to block 1 night before and after a reservation, but if there were a setting that automatically DID NOT block the night after checkin/checkout on weekends or any custom day would you use it?
As a host that works during the week, I am unable to clean the room between when a guest leaves, and a guest arrives on the same day because I am at work, but on weekends I am able to clean the room and have a guest arrive the same night since I am home.
Real World Example: A guest wants to check in on saturday night, I would want a guest to be able to check in Friday night as well, since on saturday afternoon I will be able to clean. So the setting would allow same day check-in on saturdays.
Another example; a guest is checking out saturday morning, I would want saturday night to be available for guests.
@Dan247, You can still go into your calendar and manually unblock the date even though it is automatically set as your preparation time. So on the Saturday that guest departs, just set that date as 'available' in your calendar.
Thanks yes, I do this now. But something automatic would be great!
Hello
This used to work for me too, but somehow airbnb changed it and now you can't unblock dates manually anymore if you have the preparation time setting applied 😞
I already contacted Airbnb but they don't seem to understand. They tell me I have to change the preparation time to "none". I told them I did it manually many times, so why does it not work now?
It is very frustrating.
@Dan247 I agree. I don't have the restriction for cleaning on a weekend as you do but I would like at least a day between guests to do cleanup prior to the next guest. I don't need both a day BEFORE and a day AFTER. And yes, I can manually accommodate that. It would be nice to have that as an option to be automatically generated.
Hi Jill, Same issue here. I don't need a day before AND after. Have you found a solution yet? do you know how I get ahold of Air BNB to resolve or suggest just a one day prep time?
@Jill537 @Amy2033 if you have your prep time set to 1 day before and after, it basically is what you are asking for.
For example;
First guest books Monday - Tuesday, 1 night.
Airbnb blocks off Sunday night and Tuesday night.
Second guest can book Saturday - Sunday, 1 night.
Checkout is allowed on the blocked off day, so effectively between those two bookings only Sunday night is automatically blocked off by the setting of "Block 1 night before and after each reservation."
It does not add up to 2 nights between bookings because of the BEFORE, as someone said. So having a new setting that only blocks AFTER doesn't make sense as the blocked off days are allowed to overlap for each booking.
Try suggesting as a feature request to Airbnb. If there are enough requests it's something they would/should look into and possibly incorporate into the platform.
I am having the same issue. I only want one day preparation time between bookings, not one day before and one day after, which effectively leaves me with two days in between bookings. Does anyone know where I make this suggestion to Air BNB? I've switched it to "none" for the time being but now that means I have to hope that a guest does not check out the same day as a new guest arrives. I do want to leave my calendar on auto booking... any advice appreciated.
@Dan247 Totally agree, this would be amazing to have this as a customisable setting.
If the automatic blocking of nights after a guest only happened on set nights when you wouldn’t have the time to clean in between guests due to work commitments during the day.
It would be awesome if they added this option to the rule sets on the calendar, that way you could select the dates where you want to override this option to get more bookings. It's true that you used to be able to manually unblock these dates in the calendar, but that no longer seems to work.
