Hi I'm new here. Literally my first day of my listing being live.
I had 3 instant bookings, 1 request which I accepted, and just now, 1 request which I declined because the guest had 0 reviews and I hadn't seen that she'd messaged me with the request. Had I seen the message I might have accepted, I don't know. My mistake.
Anyway, I declined it within 10 minutes and explained why to the guest, and to airbnb.
But now I worry this could affect me negatively...
Does anyone know? Will I now drop down in the search results or reduce my chances of becoming a SuperHost?
Thank you for your help!

No worries, it is only one decline. If you decline too many booking requests in future, you risk your acceptance rate will be too low to become a Superhost. But you can keep an eye on your statistics in menu "insights".

Thank you for clarifying. I'll be more careful in the future! It means I will have to accept guests with no reviews though, and that does make me a bit nervous...
Do t be nervous about accepting people with zero reviews. The thing to do is to be clear in your home rules that they agree to beforehand. Give them a good, but kind education on how using someone’s space is personal and not professional- and that they should take great care of it for you. It helps!!
Actually, I don't think that is correct. Acceptance rate is not part of the Superhost criteria, but response rate is (you need to keep that at 90% or above).
This is explained in the article you linked:
"
How do these rates affect me as a Host?
That’s a great question. The technical answer is that low response rates can impact your eligibility for the Superhost programme, and acceptance rates can impact eligibility to become a Plus Host. And Hosts who have very low rates could face penalties, including having their listings paused. But it's important to note that one-off instances of not responding or declining a booking request rarely lead to any action being taken. We’re much more concerned where we see a consistent pattern of non-response or declines."
Acceptance rate is listed under basic requirements as 88% or above, but nothing happens when you slip below this, i.e. there is no penalty. I have been below 88% many times and it never stopped me from getting Superhost.
For me, the main concern is whether declining requests pushes you down in search results or not. Many hosts say it does, but I've not come across any information from Airbnb that either confirms or denies this.
Hello @Julie4497
Why don't you turn off IB or set it you only guests with positive previous reviews can use it.
Then wander over to the Airbnb Help website to help familiarise yourself with how Airbnb works.
Think about what vetting questions you might want to ask guests and include them in your IB setting so guests see the questions prior to booking
I'm happy to take new guests but I'm experienced hosts and I vet guests carefully.
Thank you very much everyone for the useful advice - it's really appreciated!
Julie
