Essentials - cultural questions?

Hi!

We are a family touring Asia for a year with 4 kids (now 6 months in). Although trying, we always found Airbnb too expensive compared to hotels and guesthouses. But now we arrived in Taiwan, and here we booked an apartment for 14 nights at a good rate. It's not our first ABB (we also hosted for a little while) but the first one in Asia.

When we got here, we found that there are no towels and no TP (listing has essentials included). When asked about towels, the answer was "sorry, we only provide paper towels". The listing has good marks and good reviews. Is it acceptable in some places that paper towels are an option? We have to go now and buy 6 towels and throw them out in 2 weeks?

This is the proof that cheap properties will provide cheap services. Always ask your host what they will provide in their properties and what you should bring with yourself. Good luck.

I have no clue what 'TP' is but if they ticked essentials -  towels should be provided. Having said that not all hosts fully understand how things work. Check with Airbnb about this. I have travelled in Asia where towels have always been provided. But maybe not in some areas or with cheaper properties.

Please don't throw the towels out - see if there is a local charity or homeless place that could use them.

@Helen3, TP is toilet paper.

Keep the towels.  You may run into this again.
