Forgot that day light savings

We had a guest in last night who wanted breakfast at 7.00am that is ok with us, but we didn't realise that day light savings was going on for another week, it was a genuine mistake, so were 10 minutes late getting up, and when we realised that the date for day light savings had been extended we apologised to our guests x2. We said that we could get their breakfast within 15 minutes but they declined. Since then the person in question has asked for half their money back, we declined but gave her a fair amount for the missed breakfast, not the rate a cafe would charge for a full english. She now says that she is going to give us a bad review, so as we have good reviews , and are super hosts we have decided that it is better not to review her. Are we able to decline doing a review because of the circumstances. Oh and to top it off we had stained sheets and under sheet was also stained, so there was extra work involved as we don't normally charge a cleaning fee.

When you are busy day light saving is further from your brain, with other things to do, so easy to forget. Oh well our guests were only here for 1 night and I'm sure that a difficult person isn't going to make much difference to our reviews, she got some of her money back which was fair enough so as far as we are concerned the right thing was done by us and she doesn't have anything to complain about. Yes I agree as you get older Sarah we have other things to worry about, like lookingf after our truely, wonderful and happy guests who apprecciate a nice clean home and bed to lay their head.

@Phil---Liz0  It appears that you don't understand how reviews work. There is no obligation for you to leave guest reviews, but whether you leave a review or not, the guest's will be published- either 14 days after check-out or as soon as you both submit a review before that time.

So not leaving a review does nothing to ward off a bad review. And with a bad guest like this, you are doing other hosts a disservice not to write an honest review to warn them, as I'm sure you would like to be warned of guests to avoid.

Now perhaps this guest was just threatening, but in fact won't follow through on leaving a review at all. So if you don't get a message that the guest has left a review, wait until the middle of day 13 to submit your review. That way, she may not notice that you've left a review and her time will run out to leave one herself.

And reviews are blind- the guest can't see your review, nor can you see theirs until they are both submitted and published.

And you can leave a response to an unfair review if you feel it's warranted- just keep it brief, factual and professional.

Sorry you had to put up with such an ungrateful person.

This I am not sure about, maybe someone else will know: If you don't leave a review, you forfeit your right to respond to the guest review. Is this true?

Had to look up daylight savings in Australia myself, phew, not until next week.

Miss it most years. Panic ensues.

Daylight savings is a real pain in the butt, especially since it takes effect in different parts of world on different dates. Here in Mexico it changes next week as well, but in Canada and the US, it changed 3 weeks ago, I think. I have to keep remembering the time difference when I call my daughters in Canada, one of whom is normally 2 hours behind me, and one an hour ahead. But right now, until we switch next weekend, one is 1 hour behind and the other 2 hours ahead. Too much thinking for my old brain.
