Free cancelation by host possible ?

Anybody knows if there is a 24 hour free cancelation time for hosts as well, I just red that it exists now for guests.

I think I made a mistake and do not feel comfortable with a recent booking.

I just accepted a booking but realized that this is a new member ( March 2018 ), no reviews, and a very blurry foto, persons face behind a glass of wine.

I would like to know if there is any way for me to cancel this booking without penalty.

The booking was just accepted an hour ago. I cannot find a way to contact AirBnB directly.

I found this on the help page but do not know if a free CXL applies for me if I have been a host for more than 6 mnths but have neveer cancelled a booking before. The reservation is for May 2018.

Cancellation fee. The fee will be waived for your first cancellation within a 6-month period. After that, the following fee will be deducted from your first payout after a cancellation. The amount deducted will depend on when you accepted the reservation and how soon before check-in you canceled it:

  • More than 7 days before check-in, we’ll deduct $50 from your next payout
  • Less than 7 days before check-in, we’ll deduct $100 from your next payout

Thank you

I think you need to read further on host cancellation penalties, there is a lot more than the $50. And you would pushed way down the search results.

If you want to stay in the game, it would be best to avoid cancellations at all costs unless there are extenuating circumstances where you can cancel penalty free.

Try and communicate with the guest - see if they can upload a better picture.

I know you do not feel comfortable with the guest now, but the wisdom that @Marit-Anne0 has shared is very good. The penalties inflicted on the host for cancelling a confirmed reservation are quite painful, and will probably make you far more uncomfortable than this guest.

It goes beyond the money penalties.

  1. You will receive that awful "the host cancelled this reservation" review (which scares off new customers)
  2. Your listing's search ranking will suffer (which means fewer customers will see your listing).
  3. You cannot become a SuperHost for 12 months.
  4. The dates in your calendar will be blocked off.
  5. 3 cancellations within a year risks deactivation of your account.

It is just bad all around. Nobody wants that to happen to you.

I hope you find a good solution for your problem!
