Today, on my Booking.com dashboard I signed up for a new host tool offering called "Guest Insights": https://partner.booking.com/en-us/solutions/guest-insights. When guests book properties that have signed up for Guest Insights, they will guest a page that asks them to share some information about themselves such as allergies, special dietary needs, their interests, and hosts will see the three most recent reviews left by the guest. I made a suggestion that they also include a category for physical limitations or physical assistance is required.
I've not yet received a reservation with this feature, but I hope that it will save me some time from having to ask some of these types of questions, and waiting for or not receiving a response. Ultimately, my goal to identify whether a guest will be a good fit for my space or determine if I can customize our offerings to fit their needs.
Would you like to see something like Guest Insights on Airbnb?
I had a couple of stays from single traveling seniors. Each of them had previously visited the island at least a couple of times, and they specifically requested rooms on the top floor. They both had mobility limitations that made it difficult for them to be located on a hillside and climb the stairs to their suites. They couldn't carry their own luggage, and expected other hotel type services, such as arranging transportation, daily housekeeping, scheduling their virus tests, grocery shopping, etc. I know they were earnestly trying to maintain their independence, and didn't mention their special needs during the months we communicated prior to their respective arrivals, because they feared rejection. Since it was sprung upon us, we were not prepared to provide the level of service that they needed. I do think that a Guest Insights prompt would have removed embarrassment and made them feel that we wanted to know about their needs and would be try to support them during their stay.
I agree. In one of my apartments, both bedrooms are up a steep staircase while the only bathroom is downstairs. I have this written in multiple places in my listing, but of course, no one sees it. Multiple Senior couples have mentioned to me privately that the stairs are difficult in the middle of the night when having to get downstairs to the bathroom. Yes, I know that. But when I have no additional information about the guest, it is hard to relay all the information (again) that may be important to them. And it is interesting that when adults inquire or book for their elderly parents, they typically mention their parent's ages and/or mobility issues and let me know what their parents can or cannot do. It's great information to have!
@Debra300 Setting some preferences in a profile isn't a bad idea. Mine would be no microfiber sheets, no scents you can buy at the grocery store, and of course...
LOL. So, I guess you'd be fine with being re-served the same piece of rare steak several days in a row until you finished it.
I'm glad you brought it up because that's the meal plan for your visit @Debra300😂 😂 😂
