Hey guys,
So I had rented out my flat for the weekend and cane back yesterday.
My cleaning lady had already said that she couldn't get in bc the guest had not put back the key in the keybox.
So this morning somebody just entered the apartment while I was still sleeping .
I was shocked and afraid and ran outside my room to find the guest from this weekend collecting stuff from the bathroom that he had forgotten.
I was so shocked I couldn't say anything and he just left the keys abd left.
I mean he broke into my apartment.
I'm still shocked and don't know what to do
That’s completely inappropriate. Maybe consider installing a lock with a code that you can be changed as soon as the guest leaves. That is what I have.
Maybe you should have checked the key-box yourself before hitting the hay and you would have seen no key and made it a code red there and then.
On going, I'm sure you will be more key aware now.
Consider a second lock on the door, where only you have the key - or a keypad entry system - to stop unauthorised entry/key copying for your security.
The returning guest, perhaps supremely clueless or some other evil intent, I don't know.
Have fun writing the review.
Kinda rude
Thanks anyways
@Kai101 That is extremely scary. I would report him to Airbnb. I would recommend calling your Superhost number or sending them a message on Twitter @Airbnbhelp. What he did is absolutely not acceptable.
I second changing your lock situation, though. I have an electronic lock from Schlage, and I change the code after ever guest leaves. Unless you have a Medeco lock or similar where the key cannot be duplicated, your guests could make a duplicate key and you could run into the same situation again. You could also add a second deadbolt lock that can be locked from the inside only.
you have to report him to airbnb and I would advice you to use smart lock so you can use virtual and temporay keys so you dont need to give th actual keys...
