Hi everyone!
I have a guest, after requesting to check in really early (4AM in the morning, which means I have to block the day before his reservation), normally I will take half of the room rate (my base price is 27$). I offered him only 11$. Another option is only 6$ and in return he will leave me a perfect 5-stars review! But then he leave me a perfect 4-STARS review! I felt like I lost my money and perhaps the Super Host badge in the future!
Can anyone please give me some advise in this situation?! Will Airbnb do something to help me?!
I did not mean to discriminate but I always have problems with guests from China. They always want to cut down the room rate and never to keep their promises! For any Chinese people that are not doing these things above I’m sorry! When I said “guests from China”, I didn’t the whole Chinese people, just “guests from China” that I had hosted!
Sincerely,
Daniel
@Daniel2537 It’s against Airbnb’s terms of service to request or offer compensation for a rating or review. So as you have broken their rule I think it’s extremely unlikely that they will help you with this. Maybe chalk it up to experience and move on.
discounted rate and early check-in was your private arrangement with your guest, Airbnb has nothing to do with it and can't help you. Airbnb will remove bad review only if it is offending or discriminatory or if the resolution process is mentioned but even then they will not remove ratings.
We hosted a lot of guests from China and never ever they (or any of our international guests) asked for a discount. Maybe they follow some blog and heard it's possible to get discounts from Airbnb hosts in Vietnam... who knows.... but it is a general knowledge that guests who ask for discount are bad guests.
I think you have learned your lesson @Daniel2537 and you've anwsered your own question. NEVER again will you accept a bribe of a 5 star review for a discounted price.
@Daniel2537 A guest asking for something special in exchange for a 5* review is called extortion. Never acquiesce to such demands and if a guest messages you something like this, decline the booking and report them to Airbnb.
@Sarah977 it appears to me that @Daniel2537 initiated this-- if so it's a bribe, not extortion. Either way, against the rules of course.
@Lisa723 I didn't read it like that, but now I can see that may be the case. It didn't occur to me a host would do this -give someone a room for $6/night in exchange for a 5* review? If I was that desperate for a 5* review, I'd just ask a friend or family member to book the place, pay them back and get them to write a review, rather than trust some total stranger who's so cheap they want a place for $6/night.
