What is the Guest service fee. and the Property use taxes. I have a guest that paid both of these.
It this fees something you can remove from the listing or is the fee paid to airbnb??
help
@Pamela1051 The Guest Service Fee is what AirBnB charges the guest for the privilege of using AirBnB to book their vacation. You have NO control over this fee and it is paid to AirBnB.
The Taxes charged to the guest are what Your State, County, or Municipality charges for properties that are engaged in vacation renting. AirBnB will have contracted to collect these taxes from the guest on your behalf. The taxes are paid to AirBnB and you cannot remove them from the listing. They will not be paid to you, but you should keep track of them as you may have to file a tax return with your S, C or M to show that you (via AirBnB) have paid the taxes owed by your having rented out your property.
what about a property tax use .
I see this on some of the rooms i have listed but not on others?
and is there away to remove this?
Thank you so much for your help
@Pamela1051 Perhaps it is because you are renting rooms and RVs. The RVs may fall under different tax rules. You should review each of your listings to see what has been established by AirBnB on the tax pages. To my knowledge, if AirBnB is supposed to pay the taxes in your state, county or municipality, you cannot remove it from the listing.
If you are not sure what you have going on, you may want to speak to an accountant. With 10 listings that you are earning income from, you should be VERY aware of your tax liability. I cannot believe how many people rent out their property with NO idea what the tax ramifications are. Income=taxes.
