I had a booking made from someone other than the staying guest.I find it is embarrasing when they arrive and you know its not the guest you have a pic of.
This shouldnt be aloud at least the booking guest should be on e of the people staying,otherwise how do you screen before arrival. Can anybody help with this I wasnt sure how to handle and would have prefered to send them away.
You could, and should have sent them away.
yah, wow. I agree with Gordon, but that would be a tough thing to do.
I'm just curious if they explained why someone else booked it like what is that about?
Laura, When I realised on greeting it wasnt the person i was expecting they didnt seem to care.My problem is with people staying with no back ground checks to follow up on.? what if they are of not good standing you put yourself at risk,even if you send them away.
The booker not being one of the guests I have experienced in two ways;
There is the "booker John" who honestly tells me he is booking for his old parents (guests)and gives information about that. Maybe the parents do not relate to computers. But it is still not ok. How can I know it is his parents, if he dont tell the names or anything?
The other booker is a company booking for workers (guests), who come to work as employed by the company. This is not ok if they dont give good info about the workers (guests).
I think there should be barriers in the booking system demanding that the guest must be registered and acknowledged in the systemt.
Thatr means both John and the company have to go through the work of rergistering the guests / helping the guests to register and be ackowledges as airbnb members.
You should not be allowed to book for others. Simple as that.
Third party booking is not supported by Air BNB platform, @Annette122. The exception is if the person booking on behalf of a business traveler has registered with Air BNB to do that.
When I receive a booking, I immediately respond with please provide the full names of all those in the party, unless it is for a single person.
I have never had a problem with third party booking...so far. Most guests are not trying to deceive but are just following the expectations of dealing with a hotel. Add a couple of rules about only registered guests allowed to stay and that government ID may be requested of all guests and that should help the problem.
Thank You so much for your thoughts I hadnt thought to ask for travellers names before it is a great suggestion appreciate

Thats a good Idea asking for name of the guest and have you booked for yourself\?
I have instant booking off so I can vet people. However I person recently booked he was verified on Abnb and when he turned up he brought the person he had booked for. I felt sorry for them and let the person stay however will not do this again. Its hard turning someone away on the door step. It will all go into the review when I write it.
Also I had someone I managed to avoid giving the room when I found out he wanted to use it to self quarantine in and was not vaccinated against covid. I think there should be a check box in the room or house description as to whether people are vaccinated or not. I know for some people they might have a GP letter but I dont want to be putting myself or other guests to a higher risk of covid. Interesting to hear what people think on that too!
