hello, my fourth weekend of guests have been found smoking marijuana, throwing up and vomiting off of my front porch and peeing off of the deck. It is against house policies and in the state that I live in marijuana is still illegal. Rowdy behavior until 4 o’clock in the morning for both Friday and Saturday nights. I am at a loss and simply don’t know what to do. Please help, I really appreciate your advice. Thank you !
"could someone tell me who pushed my Lancia down a ditch that night" Yes, yes, yes!!!!

@Kevin1322 I have a friend who paid to have a suite built in the basement for herself in her daughter's home, where she lived for several years. She recently moved, telling me that her daughter and son-in-law and the ways they deal with her grandkids are "just too straight for me."
The next generation all need to lighten up a bit.... I blame the parents 😉
@Kevin1322 I doubt that any of us "alternative" types ever imagined that some of our kids would rebel by turning out to be even straighter than our parents 🙂
The coolest generation on planet earth.
Still working like a captain and partying like a pirate. 😉
Hello @Rosalind41
If it's still illegal in your state and they are locals you could always have a friendly chit chat to your local Police about it to have a friendly chat to them.
If all the last 4 weekends of guests are locals perhaps there are all part of a network & think they can get away with it. It's oft their pwn networks that share stories where they have gathered and word gets around. You may be perceived to be an easy target's place to stay in .
Make a firm stand, you have their names I hope from your reservations.
Make sure all future bookings that where there's multiple people staying that you have all of the names of guests, and perhaps include a snippet about no visitors without your permission.
All the best
Having been in this situation multiple times before, there are some things you can do to help prevent such a crowd and it has much to do with screening local guests better
Screen any local guests carefully. I decline at least 50% of request I get from local guests especially those that are on weekends which is the party time young locals
Winter season or slow season for many of us is the slow season. I notice a lot more locals wanting to book during this time because of whatever reasons- probably because its a lot cheaper. If it is a 3 day or more booking during the weekday, I almost never worry about it. If it is a 2 day booking on a weekend, I first check to see if there are any reviews about them. If yes, I still proceed with caution because sometimes such guests travel abroad and behave fine since 10 of their friends are not around. If no, I will likely decline any weekend request from locals for a 2 day stay.
@Sean433 I just had a bad experience as well: a local guest booked for 2, but arrived 20+. Smoke, drunk, drugs ( I have never understood why there were burned spoons in the bathroom and toilets until somebody told me), house was trashed with huge damages. I kept all the documentations and applied Airbnb host Guarantee program. Airbnb just rejected without any explanation and evidence examination. Don’t expect Airbnb will cover your loss....
after many times bad experience with locals, I am very cautious now with any local booking request...,
Airbnb always urge you to accept any booking request, even with penalty threatening, you still don’t have to follow them!
@Sean433 There were no reviews of this guest. But now there is, because I left one. I tried to find it, but can't. How can I now find his total reviews?
Save all your invoices because airbnb will dismiss your claim if you don't have invoices for the cost of the original furniture. It's a very hellish process.
There is also technology that can help you detect the presence of a house party. And as soon as you are made aware, you kick everyone out
@Sean433 Besides outside security cameras, what is the technology that helps detect the presence of a house party? And how do you go about kicking someone out?
It's in ABB Terms of Service to contact Police.
Police are the Law enforcement agency to ensure Law and Order.
They have a Duty of Care and have legal obligations they must adhere to for everyone's 'Public/ Personal Safety'.
Read up on your local Governance Police Act and ask them to please ensure Law and Order including within the boundaries of your property.
All the best
@Sean433 Thank you for the advise! It will be great to have the new technology to record everything. I have some picture documentations, the issue is that they didn’t examine those evidences and go the details with me, just rejected:/closed the case.
There are several now. i don't use them myself because I am just more strict with my screening but it is good to have as a back up.
If you google it, you will find some devices. There is one that measures noise levels and will send you a notification once it reaches a certain sound level. There is another device which detects how many phones are in the house and that will tell you how many people are inside. I forgot the names but a google search will help you find them.
Also, if you are close with your neighbours, it is good to have them report any issues to you. Once you have evidence through the cameras or other devices I mentioned above, call airbnb and tell them they need to leave right away. Airbnb will call the guest and tell them to leave. But I would still drive out there to make sure that they actually leave. If they don't I will call the police but fortunately I have never had to get them involved.
