Hi guys,
We have a static caravan on a popular holiday park in North Yorkshire, after the last few months of having all the toilet paper, washing up liquid, sponges, tea towels, towels etc been taken - we have stopped providing them. But also we have had some damage to the bed slats, decorative items etc - so am looking at putting on a security deposit. I wanted to put £50.00 but Airbnb set it and it is looking at between 80-100... has anyone found their bookings are less because of this? I would be interested to know please.

@Jill557 We added our own security deposit last year. We have not found that it deters guests but it (might) make them a little more responsible if they know the deposit exists. Airbnb don't actually take and hold the security deposit, they hotel-like swipe the payment card as a 'just in case'.

Hi there, thanks for the reply. Is there a way of setting a lower amount than what Airbnb set do you know? The one they are automatically setting seems to be very expensive. Thanks
@Jill557 I believe Airbnb started adding security deposits to those lettings which didn't already have them set. If you go and set your own then there should be no reason for one being set for you.
