Host Best Practices - Hiring Cleaner

Just have a simple question... what do yall typically have the cleaners do with the dirty laundry/linen? Do you have them leave it at a designated area for you to retrieve and wash yourself? Pay them extra to wash on site for the next job? Or meet them there to pick it up to wash yourself? We are fairly new and want to know the best practice amongst most hosts in this regard. Please advise.

@William1697   We do not ask our guests to strip our beds, although some do it anyway.  When our Housekeeper goes in to clean the first thing she does is strip the beds etc and gets all the linens washed and dried on site.  She then takes them home to iron.   Our cottage only sleeps five so it is quite manageable however I can appreciate that properties hosting larger groups may well need to use a Laundry Service.

@William1697   Our larger homes take 5 hours to clean, so laundry is done onsite.  If laundry takes too long, the cleaner uses the quick changeover linen supplies and takes the remaining laundry off-site.  She then charges for the expense of washing at her home.

For smaller properties that take less time to clean than to do all of the washing, we provide a turnover set of towels and linens and the dirty laundry is taken off site, washed, and becomes the turnover set.  This is handled by our housekeeper, and again, she is compensated for her time and the expense of using her machines.

We now live in proximity to our properties, and we have the laundry delivered to us for washing when a guest leaves and housekeeping picks it up prior to going to the property for the next scheduled cleaning.  This allows me to stay on top of the condition of the towels and bed linens and replace things as needed.

We never leave the dirty linens on site, even for pickup.

Laundry Care picks up laundry and delivers it back to the properties so you do not have to pay the cleaners for their time to process or clean it on your own. It is super easy and affordable. Their website is https://www.laundrycare.biz/commercial and they provide customized quotes based on the size of your unit and needs.
