Host changing cost?

Hi,

I made a reservation and made full payment around 2 weeks ago. I recieved a message from the host two days ago saying that she had 'forgotten to enter the rate for next year' and she now wants to double the cost of our stay.

Is this right? Can she do that once we have confirmed and such? I think I read in the T's & C's that hosts aren't allowed to change the cost once all booked.

Really can't afford the increase, so would find it helpful for some advice on this!

Thanks,
Allanah.

@Allanah1   Contact Airbnb.  Here is a link with the many ways to do so. I heard FB and Twitter get the fastest response.

Sorry this is happening to you, Allanah and you are correct, the rate at the time of booking cannot be changed.  I as a host have made the same mistake in not updating my rates for special events and had to just deal with the loss.  Never would I burden the guest with my error.  Air BNB will back you up and if the host cancels you, there are many penalties for doing so.

Now, all that being said, do you still want to stay with your reservation?  Would you feel uncomfortable there?  If you think so, ask for Air BNB help to find a comparable place at the same or lower cost.  Some people have good response by using Twitter to contact Air BNB rather than wait on the phone for a long time.

Good luck!

If you have a confirmed secure booking and you alrady paid, I doubt she can do that (unless she will demand cash on top of airbnb payment which is illegal and she will be kicked out of airbnb for good as cash transactions arent allowed in airbnb).

I also changed my prices for a listing that some ppl already booked at far lower price. Their booking though is secure and i dont ask them to pay extra. The new price I put is for future guests only. I had to communicate to my guest who already booked at very low price to calm them down....cause they also, like you, thought that suddenly they must pay me a lot of extra.

If the host wants to cancel your stay, let them. Just don't cancel yourself, which the host may ask you to do. If the host cancels, they will have to have penalties such as a fine, and a permanently blocked calendar. You as the guest who gets cancelled on will get extra travel credits (paid for by the host's fine, really) to compensate for the inconvenience.
