I reserved a room and it cost me all the funds I have. No friends and no family to help. I am hypersensitive to bedbug bites and am allergic. After I reserved, I read a couple reviews that the Airbnb had bedbugs. The most recent review was in Jul 2021 of last month.
I immediately messaged the host to make sure the bedbugs were exterminated. I feared for my safety and health. His response time was 1 hour. I decided to wait a couple before I cancelled the reservation. Meanwhile, I continued to try and connect with the host through multiple contact methods. I never heard back from him after 72 hours with a money request.
Airbnb says that a specialist team is addressing my concern and assures me of it, but they do not say when. I am getting scared and having to sacrifice my dignity, because I do not want to end up on the streets of Sacramento as homeless. What can I do other than try to find a lawyer who might take this case pro bono? The second review said that another tenant was having issues with bedbugs too and that the host was aware of the bedbugs, but was not doing anything about it.
