Hosting freelance travelers

Hey Everyone!

I am so happy that somehow I have freelancers who travel as guests staying longer. My properties located in the center and by the Lake.

Do you have experience with this type of guests? How can I make their stay more pleasant( except good wi fi)

Thank you,

Sofia

Hi, Sofia! I was a freelancer for fifteen years, and I know the lifestyle. For the most part I think it is typical business travel with more irregular hours. I think most freelancers develop an affection for minimalism. So, declutter, plenty of surfaces.

If they are staying longer, I would show them how to adjust the thermostat, and find ways to make their personal laundry super simple.

If you don't have a variety of pillows, that is always nice. Down is a favorite, but poly fill, feather, and foam are all inexpensive.

Keypad entry is great, and not just for freelancers.

Some little things I do are provide a super long HDMI cable for the TV, a few pairs of reading glasses, and universal phone chargers.

An Amazon Echo is super handy, including as a stereo. I have Amazon Prime and Prime Music comes with that.

As a freelancer, I learned that the best desk is a big table. (Conference rooms make the best offices!) In my place I have a cute rolling chair, a paper clip / pencil tray, and a desk lamp, which transforms my dining table into a desk. (My dining chairs stack out of the way.)

If you provide coffee, how about a french press? Keurig pods get expensive if the guest works from home much, and the press is maybe closer to the right amount of labor per cup. Nice to sit with a french press when working from home.

I also think anything you can do to help them feel like it is their own neighborhood will be a hit. Little tricks for getting around, a list of quirky spots, local lore, jargon for streets/places (e.g., we have "the Ave"). And pronunciation ... I'm in Wenatchee in Chelan County (WA, USA) and we don't pronounce those words with anywhere near the sophistication people seem to expect! 🙂

Would love to hear your ideas too!
