Hosting with Pets

I am traveling for the summer and want to list my house in a booming market (reno/tahoe).  My dog will have to stay behind- and I want a longer term renter to take care of her.  She is older, has doggie doors and her own routine and requires very minimal care. I'm willing to reduce rent.  Is this something I can do on airbnb?

@Amy2264  Yes, you can do long term rental through Airbnb. However, it is not a good platform on which to do so. Search the forum for topic posts and you’ll see why.

But I cannot fathom the idea of leaving a beloved, aging pet in the care of a random Airbnb guest. Perhaps you could inquire with a house/pet sitting agency to see what options there might be.

@Amy2264 I don't think Airbnb is the right venue for your situation. Essentially, you need a house/pet sitter. Not a rental tenant. I would go by word of mouth and ask your friends and family if they know of anyone looking for summer housing in exchange for looking after your house and dog. A lot of responsibility comes with that job and you don't want just any random stranger.
