How to broaden my listing ie not just my local village but the local area?

I am not getting any enquiries for my AirBnB. I think this is because my village is so small that it is not a feature of the area, toursits dont know about it and dont search for it. BUT the Sunshine Coast in Southeast Queensland is known to tourists and travellers. If I could list my AirBnB as located in the Sunshine Coast Im sure I would get lots of listings. But there seems to be no way to do that.

Any suggestions

Thanks

Jane

@Jane467 Turn on your instant booking feature. You will never be able to compete on Airbnb without it.

Guest searching for accommodation won’t go past three pages of listings, that’s just 30 listings. Open your calendar for bookings at least 90 days in advance. What guest is coming to your home last m8 Ute? Most plan trips like that months in advance. Don’t be afraid, open the listing up completely and let it thrive.

@Matthew285 Observed 67 listings near you, so that means you are at least in the back half of all the listings in your area. If your town is busy like Hong Kong, then that’s not a problem but in a small town in an off market, that means you have to fight harder for a piece of cake.

Close to the beaches? What beaches? Include the beach park sign in your photos. No Village photos showing the area to walk through or shop. No farmers market photos or anything.

If you want people to come to your off the main area listing, show them why it’s the best choice.

All of your photos need captions explain the picture and pull the drapes back to allow the sunshine in the photos. You want to feature bright and cheery images.

Just a side question @Jane467, do you charge for lines and towels?

Good luck!

@Jane467, you don't get to choose how "broad" a search your listing will be found for. You only get to specify where it is located; if a guest does a search for an area that includes your listing, your listing will appear.

I don't even think the problem is your location, though. I moved the map to include JUST your village, and your listing is NOT included in the 16 results. I zoomed out the map to include more listings, and you are NOT included when the map shows 67 nearby results.

When I look at your listing specifically, I noticed that you have NO dates available in 2018 at all, and just a few few dates in the remainder of December open. Do you have a restrictive date policy set up? Sometimes your restrictions can cause your listing to not appear (even though I put no dates in my search).

Hi Matthew,

I made changes aas you suggested, freed up February and March and when I look on my pc I see my own listing. When my partner searches using his tablet, our area gets no mention at all! We really dont understand AirBnB and wonder if another platform would be more satisfactory.

Hi Jane. I am available  for Co-Hosting or providing assistance with your listing. I am based on the Sunshine Coast. I have been hosting for for over five years. regards Karen

Hi Karen, I replied to your offer and yet I dont see my reply listed. Anyway, I would love to talk to you about  co-hosting and assistance. At this stage I'm really wondering about AirBnB. When we search for our listing it does not show at all! Looking forward to connecting with you, you may have some ideas.
