If I leave a review for a host, why do hosts not review me?

I am new to airbnb - I have experience of being a guest only.

Why do hosts not leave reviews - I find this a little frustrating as I would hope a good review would help when booking with other hosts.

Simple courtesy really.

@Anna2362

There can be several reasons for that. I can only (as a host) give mine:

- being lazy... just letting the review time limit expire

- No good review, but also not too bad... just let it go.

- No inspiration.... can not find the right words or don't want to write a "standard" review.

- But most important: a growing lack of trust in the review system (the "star"-rating must be changed).

Best regards,

Emiel

@Anna2362  Yes, I agree, it's simple courtesy, and Emiel has given you some reasons why a review might not be left. And you're right, most hosts do look at a guest's reviews before accepting.

But guests probably fail to leave reviews far more than hosts fail to do so. Some hosts have said they are tired of bothering to write reviews for guests who can't be bothered to leave one for the host.

If you are still in the 14day review period, send the host a message asking them if they could leave a review.
