Long Term Reservation

Long Term Reservation

hello,
so me and a friend are planinng to move to norway, and we found an apartment online. the host would like the payment to go trough airbnb. the host is from germany, and we are from croatia, so he is not able to show the apartment to our friends in norway.
this is the info he gave us on the proces of renting the apartment:

First you must book the apartment for minimum 2 Months.
You will have to fill the booking page with your details.
After you complete the booking details, you will receive per email the booking confirmation and payment details.
After you send the payment to airbnb you must send me a scanned paper of the receipt so I can confirm with airbnb that you made the payment and won the apartment.
When the payment is confirmed, in maximum 48 hours, but usually it takes around 24 hours, you will be contacted by one of airbnb agents to establish a meeting so you can see the apartment.
When you will go to see the apartment you must decide if you want to stay there or not.
If you want to stay they will transfer the payment to me and give you the keys.
If you don't want to stay you will get your money back from the agent.

Did anyone have this experience?

Your instructions are not exactly the Air BNB process, @Martina200, if that is what you are asking.  Here is one of many articles in the Air BNB help center about long term renting using Air BNB.

https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/245/how-do-i-pay-for-my-long-term-reservation

I suggest you look at all the articles.  I am not sure you can automatically get all your money back if you decide not to go forward with the rental unless the host allows it, so you must trust the host.

I am confused by the instruction to send the copy of the receipt since a host will get a host reservation confirmation.

Good luck!!

@Martina200 I feel this is not a legit listing. He says that after you complete the booking details you will get confirmation ant then get payment details. All scammers try to make believe they are going through Airbnb when they are not. Airbnb will take the money out of your preferred method of payment that you have set up already when you make the booking. To protect yourself, never make a payment any other method than through the Airbnb site.

Many of the scams we have seen on these pages involve long-term listings. Do as @Linda108 has advised, and familiarize yourself with how long-term bookings work. Good luck!
