Guest canceled 8. days prior to arrival, Airbnb assured payment but it’s 4 days from expected date of arrival  and no payment?

I'm a bit confused @Daniella68 

It's 4 days before they were/are expected to check in? Airbnb NEVER release payments until the first day of a stay commencing - sometimes even later.  As far as I am aware no host is ever paid anything in advance., regardless of the circumstances.  Has that not been the pattern of payment for your previous stays?

@Daniella68 you could have fallen prey to extenuating circumstances or ABB just deciding to not pay. Only they will know
