My current guests smoked inside their unit. Then they lit heavy incense. It stank up the whole house. I went in there the next day but couldn’t find what they were smoking - only cigarette smell in the room.
I told them I smelled cigarettes but she denied it. She said she smoked half a cigarette in her car. But there’s no way I would have been able to smell that.
Can i I kick her out? I smell smoke coming out of her room again tonight. I hate cigarette smoke. My son has asthma. The rooms that she’s in are part of our home and this is infuriating to me.
The short answer is yes, you can have her evicted if she broke a house rule. Contact Airbnb and be prepared to stand your ground, @Reiko12.
I would contact ABB first and let them know the predicament. If she is breaking a rule then you should be able to cancel her stay (again you need to tell Airbnb and have them cancel the stay and make sure you will not receive any penalties).
100% you can ask them to leave IF you have a no smoking rule in your listing.
I had a guest come in and literally hot boxed my house (we live upstairs), and we came home to our entire upstairs full of smoke (we share the same vents).
ALWAYS contact Airbnb before speaking with your guests.
I called Airbnb and told them the situation. They advised they would reach out to the guest on my behalf and explain to them they can either pay a cleaning fee (which I agreed to - and it was hefty...) or they can leave the property.
They decided to leave the property and were only at my home for 3 hours.
In the end, it's your home. If you are uncomfortable with something or someone breaks a house rule, call airbnb, tell them what you are going to do before you do it, and usually they will support what you decide.
Best of luck !
How should I handle smokers? My house description says "no smoking". I have house rules listed in the house saying no smoking and signs thru out the house saying no smoking. Yet they smoke. If I address this I'm going to get a bad review . What is wrong with people that they think "no smoking" means everyone but them.
