My guest is paying me 1400 british pounds and I get only $1563 how is that possible?

So i have a guest from UK who will be staying with me. It shows that she is paying me 1400 british bounds. Which per current exchange rate should be about US$1835, however it only shows that I will get about US$1563. It doesn't have to be an exact match cause of fees etc. but this is a $300 difference. Is there something off here?

@Prad0  I'd bet your payout method charges for international currency exchange and that's the difference. Who do you use to recieve your payouts? There are other options that you will not be charged on. A personal PayPal account for one. My banks does not charge fee's there are many that don't.

Maybe, but it's a direct bank transfer. I would hope airbnb will be upfront or give a guidance on something like that. I use Bank of America, and it says from the airbnb side that it doesn't have fees. It does however say that it may charge fees if i try to set it up through paypal. Hmm... just not sure what to do.

@Prad0  If it's BOA then it's AirBnB's Exchange rates and currency conversion. They say 3%, but the actual conversion on the travelers end is really high, so there is your difference. They payout by billing address and both the traveler and you get nailed. If you're going to be doing a lot of foreign booking switch to personal PayPal. I am pretty sure they worked out some kind of deal with PayPal to lower the amounts of the conversions.

I am dealing with this currently. The exchange rate fee is not consistent. I just went through and did a compilation of only my most recent 8 transactions and I have been charged 12-20% on any given date in foreign exchange rates above what the current Imternarional exchange rate is. They are ripping people off. PayPal charged me nothing. This is the amount that Airbnb sends. It’s a rip off and should be illegal to charge this much. They are already making their fees off hosting fees. So basically right now, I am ( or host combined with me) paying almost 25% between hosing and exchange. I am putting in a complaint to the.BBB as Airbnb does not advertise this up front and hasn’t been able to even explain their own policy properly.
