My host tricked my into cancelling while it is her fault

I arrived at the house and find the window broken, room dirty and lack of utilities the host described. I contacted the host and she told me she’s not in the city and cannot fix the window. I just want to leave and she suggested me to modify my reservation. I did so and was charged for the modification. I asked for a refund but failed. The host also threatened me “you’d better not leave a bad review or no review, or I will leave you a bad review”.  I wonder if there is any thing I can do to get the host punished. Thanks!

Although I do not believe punishing a host or guest is in the best interest of Airbnb, You might contact customer service and tell them your story. Perhaps they can realease the money they charged you for the modification. I think you have learned a good lesson. When a place is not suitable for your needs, call customer service and cancel for cause. Let them deal with the host, who showed no concern for the guest.

hm... I've never heard guest or host are charged for the alteration (modification) of the reservation.

Guest and host fees are the percentage of the nightly fee so if the reservation is shortened then the guest and host fees can't be higher.

Am I missing something?

 

Threatening with a bad review is called extortion and it is not allowed on Airbnb, if you have it in writing then contact Airbnb and show them and they will warn the host.

 

I am sorry you booked with such a bad host, next time be more careful and read reviews before booking, and if possible book with a super host.
