Not getting good quality requests

I have not been getting good quality requests at my new listing since I moved to a new location (less trendy area). The home is very similar to my last place and I do long term.  I rent an extra bedroom.  In the past I’ve hosted new arrivals to Austin, people doing internships (there are several tech companies very nearby), and grad students (am now not as close to the university)

Most of my requests have been from people without pictures of themselves and no reviews and no introduction on their profile. When I ask for those things and attempt some polite conversation , I get no response. Some people seem a little questionable, one person spelled their own name two different ways, another was attending a school in another town several hours away, and when I pointed out the long travel time he simply responded, “that’s fine, ma’am”.

I do long term and we share my home so, in the past I have had very good response and people were very forthcoming with this info. As a result, I had good experiences and felt secure with my many guests (some of whom are still friends). Just trying to make sense of this new experience. I’m thinking of getting off Airbnb because of this.  Anyone have similar experiences?  Is it really location, location, location?

@Barbara459 I do not know the Austin area, so it would be difficult for me to make an informed judgement about whether your new location is having this effect.

One thing that sticks out to me is this: your old listing had more than 40 great reviews; your new listing has none. Do you think the fact that your new listing is somewhat of an unknown quantity would also contribute to what is going on?
