Hello,
I have couple bookings for one-day without the option to decline/accept as I had seen with other inquiries. Is this the norm for one-day, and if it doesn't work I just cancel their reservation? Or is there a setting I'm not seeing to have one-day booking requiring approval as well? Thank you in advance for your help! I've only been a host for 3-4 days, and I'm already getting quite busy!
You check if you have instant book enabled. If you have instant book on, the guests can book without having to wait for your approval
I see on your listing that you don't have instant booking enabled, so it is not possible to book your place without you accepting the request a potential guest sends. note that there is a difference between a booking request and an inquiry: when a guest is serious they send a booking request which you have to accept or decline within 24 hours. if not, you will have to deal with certain penalties by Airbnb.
But often potential guests only send inquiries, which consists of some questions most likely. that is not a binding booking request. still, you should answer, but it is not a booking at that point, thus nothing to accept or to decline.
Best is to study all these things in depth, it's all in the help section.
Once you have accepted a booking request, never ever cancel as a host, that really carries serious penalties!
On your calendar page, there is also a drop down listing for how many days advance notice you need, and how many days prep time between guests. We recommend selecting "at least 1 days advance notice" to avoid a jumble where someone books (or assumes they can book) last minute. Last minute guests in our experience blame the host for any kerfuffle caused by them waiting to book the same day.
