Over use of appliances

Hello!! I just went by my Airbnb listing to deliver some pillows and I noticed the air conditioners, lights and TV were ON even there is no one at home!! All doors open widely! The electricity is so expensive here in PR that I do not want to see the bill!!!! I want ask them politely to be considerate, but I do not want them to feel I am monitoring everything they do! What do you suggest?

Just be honest a friendly chat- say when you delivered them some new pillows you couldn't help but notice XXX, XXXX. You are sure it's a one off and it must have slipped their mind on leaving. Let them know that keeping bills to a minium helps you provide your accommodation for great value. And that if they could keep this in mind and do a quick check to make sure air condition and lights are not left on if they aren't around. Follow it up with a message via BNB.

Thanks Cormac. I have been very lucky with my guests 🙂 Only few sour experiences and cerainly this is one of them. As you say, some people are so self centered and  neglected that do not even think about these matters. I will handled it carefully as you say... I think this was their first time using Airbnb...
